Rats and Ratters
With around 45 miles of tunnels running below the town, there is quite a rat population in Gunbridge Bells. Over the centuries a subterranean living group of people has evolved around the culture of rats, rat catching and the selling of rat meat products. These people are known as Ratters. The Ratters have popularised the concept of eating all things rat and in so doing have created one of the town's most lucrative businesses. If you buy any kind of rat product in Gunbridge Bells, you can be sure that originally it came from the Ratters.
We also have two species of rat that exist nowhere else in the world, the Hograt and the Spiderat. The Hograt is the size of a small dog and is particularly delicious when hung and smoked. In fact smoked Hograt is considered G-Bells's finest delicacy. The Spiderat is a vicious normal sized rat that has developed an enhanced ability to cling to surfaces. They can even walk along a completely flat ceiling, often dropping on people's heads who have wandered off the beaten track into a fringe tunnel. Spiderat meat is also delicious and is often served with spicy sauces to match it's gamey flavour.
